Amateur Radio Groups Activated during 911 Outage

On April 28, the 911 communications systems in the area suffered an outage. In addition, several area internet providers had service interrupted. This covered several counties, including Lake and Marion County.

Local MERT and ARES groups activated, establishing communication with local officials and monitoring area emergency repeaters. This was continued until the 911 systems were up and running. Numerous members of the Silver Springs Radio Club are also members of MERT and ARES and were involved. Many thanks to ARES and MERT for their service to the community.
